I want to introduce you to a friend of mine. Joshua Slocum. Josh is an old salt and while I have never met in in person, I am truly grateful that he let me in on the greatest adventure of his life. See, Josh is the very first person to sail around the world… by himself. He did it back in 1895.
Many people have done it since and the club of global sailors keeps growing year after year, but ol’ Josh did it in an era of no satellite phones, no GPS, no emergency beacons, and no computer weather forcasting.
Josh is also a romantic. He did his adventure in a sail ship in a time when steam ships were all the rage. His ship wasn’t a top-of-the-line vessel either. It was an old oyster boat he fixed and fitted for his journey. During his adventure he deals with storms, damages, and even pirates.
So if you are interested in his story, click on the links below. I’m even including an Amazon link where you can download his book on Kindle for 99 cents.
